How does Empowering Eaglehawk work?Empowering Eaglehawk allows local people to have a greater input into our future and to ensure a greater share of local capital is retained by the community for constructive purposes. Empowering Eaglehawk will earn a commission from the business of every Empowering Eaglehawk supporter that does their banking with Bendigo Bank or signs up with Bendigo Community Telco. Find out more
What rate of contribution will be returned to the Eaglehawk community? When will it be paid?As an example, for a new customers with a home loan of $100,000, Bendigo Bank would contribute $200 annually to the Empowering Eaglehawk project. Similarly for the average household telecommunications customers. Bendigo Community Telco will contribute approximately $75 annually. These commissions will be paid on a monthly basis. Will I have to pay more than my current repayments?No. Eaglehawk supporters will be offered the same products and services at the same rates as all Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Community Telco customers. Empowering Eaglehawk will provide benefits to customers and communities who commit their business to either Bendigo Bank or Bendigo Community Telco. Will Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Community Telco increase rates to offset their contributions?No. Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Community Telco will ensure their products and services are competitive and meet the needs of each individual customer. If I am an existing Bendigo Bank or Bendigo Community Telco customer, what do I have to do to support Empowering Eaglehawk?Complete a pledge form and return it to an Empowering Eaglehawk committee member or the Eaglehawk branch of Bendigo Bank. Is the pledge form binding?The pledge form is not legally binding. It allows us to create a list of supporters and will not be used for any other purpose. A representative from either Bendigo Bank or Bendigo Community Telco (or both) will use the details to contact you about your support for the project. Your privacy is assured. How will funding be administered? And what projects will the money be used for?Empowering Eaglehawk is overseen by a voluntary committee representing a cross-section of local community groups. The committee will advertise for submissions from the community, with suggestions of where and how the money will be spent. The committee will then make a decision based on specific guidelines. What costs are involved in transferring my banking business from another bank to Bendigo Bank?This question is best answered by a representative of Bendigo Bank. What costs are involved in transferred my telecommunications business to Bendigo Community Telco?There is no charge to transfer you existing telecommunications service to Bendigo Community Telco. However if you have entered into a contract with your existing provider, costs may be incurred if you break this contract. Speak to your existing telecommunications provider or read the Terms and Conditions of your existing service for details.
